Cleanses, detoxes, minerals, supplements… Biohacking can really seem like an endless rabbit hole of information. Let’s start simple with two extremely easy and effective ways anyone can start biohacking.

Try them for a month, see what happens, and come back for more ways to biohack.

Warm Lemon Water with Raw, Local or Manuka Honey

Sounds like the drink of someone with a cold, right? Not so much. Lemon in warm water helps alkalize the body, aids in digestion for the day (preventing things like bloating, gas, and heartburn), helps cleanse the liver, kidney, and blood, provides vitamin C and folate, as well as minerals like potassium, calcium, and magnesium, and improves skin via its antibiotic and antioxidants effects. Lemon also has anti-carcinogenic properties, helps the liver to produce more bile to help digest fats, helps cure and prevent throat infections, and reduces bad breath.

Raw honey contains antioxidants that may play a role in preventing heart disease. It also kills bacteria and fungus. Raw honey has both anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits, is effective as a treatment for H. pylori gut bacteria, and is as effective as dextromethorphan (the common cough medicine ingredient). The benefits of raw honey go away when it’s heavily processed or pasteurized.

Local honey is recommended because of the anti-allergy benefits.

Much the same way that raw milk has benefits that pasteurized doesn’t, raw honey has more health benefits than pasteurized. Making sure your raw products come from reputable sources is the best way to ensure proper quality and to prevent the potential ailments that have made pasteurization the government-preferred method of consumption.

best ways to start biohacking

Start your day with half a lemon squeezed into a mug full of warm water. You don’t want the water boiling, because that will kill the beneficial properties of the raw honey. Try this every morning for thirty days and note the results.

Drink Your Veggies

Buying freshly made juices can get pricey, but making them yourself isn’t. Juicing can be a little time consuming, with the chopping and cleanup, so we instead recommend blending or food processing your veggies. Add water or coconut water to make it more juice-like, and expect it to be thick. You’re getting all the vitamins and minerals from the skin and core, so enjoy it.

Our recommended recipe? Toss a few stalks of celery, half a cucumber, a handful of cilantro, one apple, a carrot, and, optionally, a teaspoon of spiral and barley grass powders. You can find those on Amazon.

This juice includes…

…Celery for the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It helps support digestion and with the elimination of toxins.

…Cucumber for potassium, water content, it’s protection against neurological diseases, anti-aging wrinkle components, anti-inflammatory and pain relief aspects, and vitamin K, which helps bones absorb calcium. Cucumbers also have fiber, so they prevent constipation.

…Cilantro for it’s Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Folate, Potassium, anti-diabetic properties, for it’s ability to rid the body of heavy metals, prevention against oxidative stress, ability to lower anxiety and improve sleep, protection against food poisoning, support of healthy menstrual function, and prevention of UTI’s and colon cancer, among other things.

…Apple for their water and fiber content, because they improve eyesight, help prevent cancer, lower cholesterol levels, control blood sugar levels, and help treat anemia.

…Carrots for Vitamin A, fiber content, and because they boost the immune system while reducing high blood pressure, reducing risk of cancer and stroke, improving eyesight and blood sugar levels, and helping maintain good digestive health.

…Spirulina because it’s one of the most dense superfoods on the planet. It removes heavy metals, eliminates candida (which causes leaky gut and is a sign of most autoimmune diseases), is a natural HIV treatment, helps prevent cancer, lowers blood pressure, reduces cholesterol and chance of stroke, boosts energy, alleviates sinus issues, offers neuroprotection for brain disorders, and boosts the memory.

…Barley grass powder because it improves insulin resistance and lowers sugar levels, reduces toxin (especially lead) buildup for our livers, improves skin health and elasticity, reduces cholesterol, aids in weight loss because of the fiber, prevents asthma, prevents some forms of cancer, repairs DNA, prevents osteoporosis, and supports the immune system.

Expect a thick, green, smoothie-like juice. If you add some pineapple, it’ll be even sweeter, but the apple and carrot keep it from being a totally vegetable kick in the mouth. The other major benefit of this smoothie? It acts as a pregnancy and breastfeeding safe heavy metal detox. Heavy metals can be picked up in all sorts of places: baking using foil, pesticides from food or grass in public parks, and so on. Heavy metals settle in our brain and tissues, causing things like heart disease, hormonal imbalances, neurological conditions, infertility, and more. Detoxing heavy metals has major health benefits, and this is an easy way to do it.
